ORIENTAL CERAMICS SOCIETY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
The establishment of an Oriental Ceramics Society of WA (OCSOWA)
I would like to bring together a group of people who own or would like to own or would like to learn about antique oriental ceramics, to meet regularly in the Perth - Fremantle area to show and discuss pieces from their collections. I hope we could proceed to form an oriental ceramics society of WA which would be a properly registered non-profit association with elected office holders and with the following aims: * obtain a regular meeting place and display venue * meet monthly or bi-monthly to show and discuss pieces owned by members * possibly hold an annual public exhibition of selected pieces * invite expert speakers on aspects of oriental ceramics * establish contact with other oriental ceramic societies in London, New Yorks, Washington, Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok, Hong Kong and other major centres. * explore possibilities for the eventual establishment of a significant collection of oriental ceramics on permanent display in Perth or Fremantle. * establish reference centres for dating and identifying antique oriental ceramics.
